Built On Trust & Integrity
We believe that true quality is found in the details you can't see just as much as the ones you can. We don’t take shortcuts, we don’t compromise on materials, and we don't call a job finished until it meets our rigorous standards. When you work with us, you are investing in a product built to last.
Bostin Fencing's products meet or exceed the following specifications unless otherwise stated:
BS1722-9 - Steel Railings
BS1722-12 - Steel Security palisade
Galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461:2009
Powder Coating to EN13438:2005
Galvanised fencing supplied by Bostin Fencing will be self-maintaining and regular cleaning should be avoided if possible however if the galvanising requires cleaning a weak solution of washing up liquid with hot water and a soft bristled brush may be used. (For difficult to remove stains, make a solution of water and white distilled vinegar and scrub the area using a soft cloth).
For powder coated fencing and gates:
Corrosion can also be accelerated, when parts are encrusted with salts and dirt.
Periodic cleaning, with a frequency determined by the environment slows down the speed of corrosion. Quick and good repairs of the anti-corrosion coatings powder coating is vital to ensure the long-term protection provided by the powder coating.
Assuming good design and on-going appropriate care and maintenance we suggest the following as an indication of the powder coating life expectancy:
Categories of Corrosion Category of Corrosion:
C1 – Very Low Very little or no pollution. heated buildings, offices, shops, schools hotels. 12 - 15 years
C2 – Low levels of pollution Mostly rural areas in excess of 10 -12 years.
C3 – Medium Urban and industrial areas, moderate sulphur dioxide pollution Coastal areas with low salinity [not under direct influence of salty air/wind] 5 – 10 years.
C4 & C5 – High Industrial areas and coastal areas with moderate salinity Sea front areas Non-standard processes required to offer any level of protection for these areas
C1 & C2 environments items should be checked and if necessary, cleaned annually.
C3, C4 & C5 environments items should be checked and if necessary, cleaned twice annually in all cases areas not exposed to rainfall should be checked more frequently Repairing: Clean the damaged area [grease and rust elimination] Sand to expose the steel surface Dust removal Final clean with non-aggressive solvent Apply zinc rich epoxy primer Overcoat with 1K or 2K PU paint.
Maintenance Procedure:
The Coating used by Bostin Fencing are organic in nature and as such require regular maintenance. The purpose of maintenance is to enhance the protective qualities and the decorative characteristic of the powder coated material, while maximising the service life.
The suggested method of cleaning is by regular washing with warm water and soap or mild detergent. Surfaces should be cleaned using a soft cloth or sponge. More persistent detergent maybe used to remove heavy, or oil based, soiling. Abrasive cleaners and those containing solvents or volatile spirits must not be used under any circumstances.
The frequency of cleaning will depend, in part, on the standard of appearance required. It will also be greatly influenced by the immediate environment. For example, an inland rural location may require only, the minimum recommended, two cleans per year, while an installation on a seaside promenade or adjacent to a source of heavy industrial pollution may require cleaning four or more times a year.
When establishing a “Maintenance Procedure” you should consider the environment in which the installation exists. Is there a likelihood of contamination from marine or heavily industrialised atmosphere? There will always be the possibility of airborne abrasive particles such as sand or concentrated dust.
Be prepared for changes to the environment resulting from changes in processes employed locally. The erection or demolition of buildings affecting exposure to, or protection from, the natural elements or the introduction of Industry to a previously rural environment.
You are required to maintain records of the frequency of maintenance and details of the methods employed. This will be made available to Bostin Fencing on request.
Gates
All our gates are manufactured in our workshop for your order, to suit your specifications. Correct installation of the gate & closing mechanism is essential to ensure the gate operates smoothly. Regular maintenance checks are required for the hinges & fixings, lubricating, tightening or adjusting as necessary, always leaving the gate hanging true. Any spare parts required are available from us on request.
